Just a question

Is this what you want your life to be like?

  1. No thank you! Looks like an invasion of privacy. A screen in the bathroom? Does it come with a web cam as well? How much will the technology cost? It will more than likely be rolled out incrementally at an extremely affordable price. Just like the cell phone. Everyone has a cell. You know how many people have two or three Obama phones - per person? More people have cell phones than people without food. Something isn't right with that picture.

    1. Your comment reminded me of the book 1984 in which society is controlled by cameras in screens all around the community, outside and in homes. I see what you say about privacy being an issue, but I think that would only be the case if web cams were on the screens.

Aside from the technological aspect, I am glad you thought of the poor alongside this video. As someone who just finished a month of fasting to feel the same hunger that those without food do, I am constantly exerting effort in thinking of any and all ways I can help those worse off than I am.

  2. I wouldn't mind having a state of the art home. If it makes my quality of life better, I'm all for it. Having something thats offer convenience and efficiency would be great. However, I can understand Hazel's concern about privacy. In world filled with hackers and sneaky governments, it's best to tread lightly. It's important that the user get control over what gets shared with the public.

  3. At first, all I could think about was how luxurious it all looked. When I sighed. A little deeper, I realized how depressing this could be. Although it may seem like technology advancements like these may bring humans closer together, in many ways...it does the opposite. One thing to note is when the woman in the video went shooping. She just walked up to a screen where the outfit was being modeled and then purchased it. Situations like these eliminate the rawness that comes with actually entering a store, greeting the sales associates, asking questions, asking for advice..etc. Also.m, I would hate to think that my life was at the mercy of a bunch of electronically fueled machines. What if a glitch occurs? What if there's a power outage? What will we do then. The video is pleasing to the eye and the thought of the world heading in that direction is a bit tempting to the mind. However, maybe I'm a bit old fashioned. Bottom line is, I don't like it .

  4. I love the video, and I would love for life to be like this. As someone who takes on multiple tasks, staying organized is of key importance to me. At the beginning of the video, we see the woman check her schedule for the day on the bathroom mirror. This would definitely be ideal for me. Furthermore, I know that the alternate routes presented on the maps when an accident caused traffic the initial route would definitely be helpful to cab drivers. My father, who drives Uber, is always listening to the radio to check up on road clearances and accidents.
